Common questions
Do I need a firearm licence or any experience?
No. On your first visit you shoot a club gun under a coach's direct supervision. You don't need a licence, a competency certificate or any experience.
Is it safe?
Yes. Every first-timer gets a safety briefing and shoots with a coach beside them. Eye and ear protection is compulsory and provided, and the Range Safety Officer has the final say.
What should I wear?
Closed shoes and comfortable clothes you can move in, preferably dark. A cap helps on sunny days. Avoid low-cut tops, because cartridges eject hot.
Is there a minimum age?
Juniors are welcome with a parent or guardian present. Minimum age is [TBC].
How long does it take?
Plan for about 1 to 1.5 hours, including the briefing.
How do I find the range?
Turn onto Redford Road at The Crags and follow it to the forestry station gate at the end. Don't take the side dirt roads. Use the map link on the Eden page.
Can I shoot a handgun or rifle?
Not as a visitor. Eden is clay shotgun only. Nature's Way, our handgun, air rifle and shotgun range, is for paid-up members only.
Will it hurt?
There's some recoil. Your coach will show you how to hold the gun so it's comfortable, and we use lighter loads for beginners.
